<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">No your question was most certainly not an error! But using App inventor to teach programming in Unit 2 would be, although it does output in Java the developer sees none of this and the interface is entirely
drag and drop of preloaded logic snippets that are graphically displayed. Hence there is no actual coding and no direct manipulation of code. While it’s great for teaching computational logic, familiarity with actual coding and syntax is a different matter
and is vital.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:#1F497D">Although the current study design states “Flexibility exists regarding the language studied as there is no approved programming list for this area of study” etc etc, the ramp up time for App Inventor is considerable
compared to just going to codeacademy or some such and getting started directly with Java. It’s an inefficient way to simply introduce general programming skills you’d need in Unit 2. So while it’s not precluded it’s certainly inadvisable IMHO anyhow. Hope
