I agree, it is a compromise but the other option put to me was that we stop teaching VCE IT due to lack of interest. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I did survey the students to track their interest and engagement. I was surprised that many enjoyed the weekly year 12 vs year 11 IT Trivia and Pop quiz challenge that I ran each week and the online work that i set. They are two separate courses and should be treated as such. Schools should not compromise the students nor the teacher. I think it undermines our profession by putting teachers into a position that they feel personally responsible for the continuation of the subject. Within my department we have all agreed that we will not accept this as our past experience means an overworked teacher and students (esp. yr 11) not getting the attention they deserve.
