Hi there Paula .. I finally took the trouble to give this a good read. Very
comprehensive! On page 40, it gives very good authority to the government
use of the OASIS XML or open document format, especially for archive and
preservation purposes (such as ePortfolios). There is something on the
National library website that says more or less the same thing.

I have been regularly sharing and archiving my work as ODT and ODP documents
with students. The free reader is installed on all the school computers.
When I upload these open documents to the VITTA website, I also make and
bundle in an PDF copy. Eazy peasy ..
