Hi All,
Our grateful thanks go to Zoe Rodriguez, Guest Presenter at PixelEd's*
Copyright in the Digital Age* PD yesterday. Zoe had a wealth of information
to share and facilitated various interesting discussions amongst the
participants as well. I have included below a great email about copyright
resources for teachers from Dr Julie Burbridge. Julie is the VCAA Copyright
Officer, and she contributed greatly to yesterday's seminar,
 Yours,
 Marian

Dear Marian,

Just following on from your very useful Copyright seminar with Zoe
Rodriguez of CAV yesterday: you will recall that one of the PixelEd staff
members attending asked about copyright training resources, and Zoe
referred to the resources offered by CAV on their website, by the
Australian Copyright Council (http://www.copyright.org.au ) and by the Arts
Law Council (http://www.artslaw.com.au/)

I mentioned to you as I left that there were a few others which can be of
great use to teachers and students:

*Smartcopying* (http://www.smartcopying.edu.au/) which is administered by
the National Copyright Unit for schools – this is a very extensive and
useful site specifically devoted to supporting Australian schools and TAFEs
to manage copyright. They have a variety of resources and advice on the
site and they also run online courses for educators/teachers.

Victorian government schools may also access information and seek advice on
copyright issues from the Department of Education (Victoria) Copyright
Unit: (http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/principals/
management/Pages/copyright.aspx).

Among other things, this site also includes guidelines which address issues
such as ownership of copyright in student works (See the Department's Copyright
Guidelines for Victorian Government Schools (PDF - 334Kb)
This unit also has various resources and template letters for schools to
use:

http://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/principals/management/Pages/
copyrightresources.aspx

And finally with regard to the VCAA’s *Season of Excellence* (Top Arts, Top
Designs and so on) the following link has guidelines and templates for VCE
students seeking to meet the copyright and other requirements for
participation in the ‘Season’ : http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/
Pages/excellenceawards/seasonofexcellence/index.aspx

Thanks again for organising the seminar.

All the best

Julie
