I've stumbled onto a great resource - http://method.ac/ - which is aimed at teaching the skill of Design to Programmers. (You can read their reasoning here: http://method.ac/blog/design/programmers-designers.html)

The three 'games' they have released so far are:
Kern Me (teaching about text kerning.) - http://type.method.ac/
Shape (which both teaches about bézier curves and some typography): http://shape.method.ac/
Colour (which, obviously, covers colour theory): http://color.method.ac/

Later, they will be launching an online design course which should be worth keeping an eye on.

Incidentally, the same designer/programmer has created this interactive tool to explore easing: http://cssglue.com/cubic

I hope you enjoy this site as much as I did.
