[vet-mm] Pixeled Annual Industry Dinner

In defense to the timing of this particular dinner, it is meant to be held as part of the IT week and had to fit in with a schedule of events.
When I have observed discussions on timing taking place, the PixelEd committee has been trying to take into account the accessibility for rural/isolated/regional teachers - for example, the Flash/Actionscript/CSS PD took place on a Saturday.

Maybe there is an opportunity here for some online learning to take off where lab3000 finished. The software to enbale this sort of thing is getting better and more widely available - we need to start breaking the tyranny of distance. The need for PD in regional Vic is potentially very large. In my case I am teaching mmedia with very limited experience and both my need and hunger for PD is large. As is often the case in small schools I am not a specialist in this area and my opportunities for PD in Melbourne are very very limited. This list continues to be a great help for getting ideas, support and keeping in touch.

I totally agree Rod. I'm always feeling like I am on the fringe. It is hard enough to make it to PD sessions in the city. The long distance (Maryborough) and having a young family at home make it virtually impossible to attend anything late mid week. I guess there are a lot of us out here in regional Victoria in the same boat.

Alas, the regional country folk are again excluded because of the timing -A
Tuesday July 29th - makes it more than onerous for any paractical attempt or
desire to attend. Travelling 350km on way means this is a night for the city
folk.
