Subject: [vet-mm] OT - Final Reminder: Upcoming PCEDUG meeting

Hi all (apologies for any cross-postings)

Just a last reminder about the next PCEDUG meeting to be held at Kew High School (1393 Burke Road KEW EAST) on Tuesday 5th September commencing at 4:30pm (light refreshments from 4:15pm).

The school is very close to the corner of Burke Road and High Street (in fact, it has frontage to both streets). When coming to the school your best option is to enter the school grounds off High Street. Enter the school next to the Renaissance Theatre and park there. Then enter the building via the rear door and go straight to the second floor (signs will be posted) where you will find the ICT Centre. Please note that there is no exit from the Eastern Freeway onto Burke Road if you are heading towards the city. You will need to take the Bulleen Road exit.

The main focus of the meeting will be provided by Michael Dyson (National Business Development Manager - Multimedia Technology P/L - http://www.mmt.com.au) and team who will bring us up to speed with a range of the latest products (both hardware and software) from a wide variety of suppliers as MMT are distributors of these products. This should be of interest to both primary & secondary schools. Attendees can expect to see (hear about) a range of products including video & still cameras, data projectors, graphics tablets, tablet PCs, etc. I may provide an update closer to the day on the things you can expect to see.

A list of Multimedia Technologies suppliers includes: Sony, Olympus, Pioneer, Mitsubishi, Linksys, Panasonic, Fujitsu, Lexmark, Pinnacle Systems, Verbatim, Canopus, Matrox, Shintaro, Kodak, Netcomm, Cherry, NEC Australia, Creative Technology, BenQ, Iomega, XFX Graphics, Eaton Powerware, T3 Australia, Shuttle, Altec Lansing, Humax, New Magic (Sony Video Editing), AV Labs, Region 4, Powercolor, Primera, Rimage, Cyberlink, Ahead, ingrasys, Pro-Kit, Dueltek & AverMedia.

Our host, Bruce Riley (ICT Manager) and his team will also do a 'show and tell' in relation to the Kew High curriculum network including Scholaris (a portal to other Information Systems within the school & Learning Content Management System) & the Blue Reef Sonar (proxy, firewall, filtering, potential for bandwidth management) solution.
After the meeting we will be adjourning to La Porchetta in Kew (7/12 Walpole Street) which is just 5 mins or so from the school (from about 7:00pm onwards) for some eats & drinks for those that would like to stay on.

Thanks to Bruce RILEY and Michael DYSON (along with both of their teams) for their preparedness to help us with this meeting.

Please email me, Steve MISSEN (missen.stephen.j at edumail.vic.gov.au) by Friday September 1st if you plan to attend so that we can adequately cater with refreshments for the number attending.

Cheers

Steve MISSEN
