Diane, it is really what is considered "industry standard", so it is partly
your decision. Given that around 95% of offices use Windows and Office, this
is probably the best place to start from.

There is also not a great deal of difference between the General and
Software Apps stream, but I seem to find that the Software stream has a bit
more of a logical flow to it and appeals a bit more to students.

Regards
Allan Barnes.

Subject: [vet-it] Query on VET and software applications

Hello everyone
As usual, I'm asking an 'off topic' question - we are considering
introducing VET IT (and have been for about three years but that's another
story). If we introduce the Software Applications stream, is there a list of
'prescribed' software that must be studied or are we able to decide on a
variety of software of our choice? Or if we go for the General stream, is it
'meaty' enough for the students?

Any comments, suggestions, ideas would be most appreciated.
Thank you
Diane Peat
