MEDIA RELEASE
29 July 2008

³Signs of Understanding² Student Exhibition 30 July 12 August 2008

Second year graphic design and visual arts students from the Australian
Academy of Design¹s Bachelor of Design Arts course are holding the first
public exhibition of their work at the Academy¹s Clement Meadmore gallery.

Curator and lecturer Derrick Shaw explains:

³Each student has experimented and explored very diverse directions in terms
of media and display, to illustrate their interpretation of the theme Œsigns
of understanding¹

All exhibits invite the viewer to re-discover messages contained in signs
some make bold statements, whilst others are hidden, requiring to be
uncovered.

The intended experience therefore, is to create awareness of the diverse
interpretations of the signs which surround us everyday.²

Students will hold an Opening Night and media viewing on Wednesday 30 July
6.30-8pm at 220 Ingles St, Port Melbourne. The exhibition is open to the
public 9am-5pm Mon-Fri till 12 August
