Moodle has messaging built into it...

students love it..

Allows them to contact staff as well without having to know their email
details and thus preventing any anonymous naughtiness.

Surveillance by interrogating the moodle database logs for hundres of "Hi"
"Wazzup" messages etc

Subject: [Technical] Instant Messaging

Hi All,

Can anyone recommend a program I can use a my school for students to (safely
if possible) learn instant messaging.

Our principal wants the students to learn this, but most sites are blocked
(for obvious reasons).

Ideally it would be something that would only work within the local network
or the wider wan.

Basically I want a student version of communicator.

Hoping someone can help.
