Dear Systems Engineering teachers

Victorian Systems Engineering list (Edna)

Apart from the edulists Systems Engineering Teachers list which you
subscribe to, Robert Minato (a Systems Engineering teacher) has reminded
me that there is another list (Edna) you can also join. Along with
Robert, I encourage you to share and/or gain ideas for your teaching and
learning activities, equipment, and assessment tasks with others.
(Please note that these assessment tasks are not officially endorsed by
the VCAA, rather they are tasks devised by individual teachers.)

The link is:

http://www.groups.edna.edu.au/course/view.php?id=1469

I would encourage you to join and post a comment. Thanks to James,
Robert, Neville, Ken and Peter and others for their contributions so
far.

Systems Engineering School-assessed Task Information session - last
chance to register!

This very useful teacher professional development session will be held
tomorrow at Coburg. For more information, and to register, please go to:

Systems Engineering Study Design Review

The Systems Engineering Study Design is being reviewed this year.
Information about the review is on the Systems Engineering page of the
VCAA website
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/systemseng/systemsengindex.html

If you have any comments about the current study design, or ideas on how
it could be improved (or what you think should stay the same), please
send your comments to me, or even post them on the mailing list/s if you
wish to share your comments with others on the list/s. However, if you
wish the Systems Engineering review panel to consider something
specifically, you will need to send comments to me
tran.lorraine.i at edumail.vic.gov.au and request that the panel
specifically considers your contribution.

The consultation period for the draft of the revised study design is
scheduled for comment from 20 July - 19 August, so I hope many of you
will take the opportunity to provide feedback. The Systems Engineering
review committee will consider all feedback that is received.

2011 Innovation Showcase

I would strongly encourage teachers with innovative programs to
participate in the 2011 Innovation Showcase. Aaron Powter, an innovative
Systems Engineering teacher at Northland Secondary College/NTech
participated in the showcase last year. The Innovation Showcase provides
a great opportunity to show the education community the great things
that happen in technology education programs in our schools. I strongly
encourage you to participate in this program which is open to
participants from all sectors - Catholic, Independent and Victorian
Government Schools.

Aaron's presentation at the 2010 innovation showcase demonstrating some
of the products his students have designed and made is available from a
