<p class="MsoNormal">I’ve decided next year to give my SD kids more ‘real world’ programming experience by having a crack at making some Windows 8 Apps. Basically all you need is windows 8 and the windows 8 version of Visual Studio. The code is still in VB
– however the UI’s are made in XAML (But Visual Studio does that for you mostly – when you paint on the textboxes and so on using the toolbox).<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I’ve still installed the Desktop version of Visual Studio Express 2012 as well, BUT I’m keen to use the Windows 8 Apps as much as possible. Is there anyone else out there who is looking to head down this path? I would be happy to share
thoughts/experiences with those interested.<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">The initial motivation in Transition week has been positive – a few students even went out and upgraded to Windows 8 to have a go over the break!<o:p></o:p></p>
