[Year 12 SofDev] Updated version

IIRC some Australian postcodes have leading zeroes, which may be better
stored as strings to show up properly.
And strings would accommodate foreign alphanumeric codes - if needed - in
the future.

Integers are great if the postcode is for Australia, it enforces validation
right from the data type. As soon as you go international though, postcode
should be a string. I think if you added in a sentence about this being
Australia only you could get away with it, especially as it provides a good
chance for them to do some data validation.

Thankyou Darren,

I was going to add file access but as I only have 1 week left of the term I
decided to do it later, with a joint class Informatics/software I have been
pushed for time. I probably should have used postcode as an integer and am
hoping some of my students pick up on that and I will have to fi point 4
and in task 8 it is supposed to indicate making a tic tac toe game it was a
good visual design that I found.

Thankyou very much for the feedback

I also decided to give them a choice of either 6 or 7 and either 8 or 9 as
they give me variety.

Hey Vera, I just had a quick look over and thought the following … feel
free to add or ignore.

   - I’ve seen a few people mention that sorting isn’t in U3O1
specifically, but there’s no reason you can’t do it as an algorithm, so
I did sorting in U3O1 anyway … to me, it makes no sense to binary search
if you haven’t covered sorting first/as well.
   - Are you doing any file access stuff? XML file formats is a key
knowledge so I’d recommend putting in something that reads from/writes
   to a file.
   - In task 1 you have postcode as an integer … why not a string? You’re
never going to do any maths on a postcode.
   - Task 5 refers to task 1 in the form, but your swapping question is
   task 2.
   - I don’t know what you want the kids to do in task 8 … are they making
tic-tac-toe? Or just a subpart of the game where the board is already 6
   pieces in?

How long were you giving for this?

Darren
