Hi all,

Thanks for the responses they have all been very useful.

It just might be because of the generation I am a part of but I wish the edulists had a like option.

Cheers,

Ben.

Hi All,

I told my students to save a different version of their Gantt chart every time they updated it. They can then use this to help write their report. I also expect them to submit all versions of their project plan to me. This should also feed into the criteria on file management if students do it properly ….

Regards,

Chris

Hi Ben,

This is what I'm giving to students and how I'm assessing them. Thank you for sharing Criteria 7, it was very helpful!

For me I'm assessing them on:

- annotations on their initial Gantt chart. They need to photocopy their initial Gantt chart, write the changes and make annotations on it.

They probably will need to make a new Gantt chart if they didn't follow it.

They then write a reflection on the advantages and disadvantages of Gantt chart, talking about the factors

that helped them with the SAT and factors that did not help them.

How are others assessing this part?

From Vi.

CRITERIA 8 - Understanding of strategies for assessing the effectiveness of the project plan in monitoring progress

To meet this criteria, you need to assess the extent to which the project plan (Gantt chart) assisted in monitoring project progress in one of the following:

• A written report

• An annotated visual plan

Records correctly and clearly all
adjustments to the initial plan
during the progress of the entire
project. Applies a range of
appropriate recording techniques.

On your initial plan (Gantt chart created in SAT 1), annotate any adjustments to the plan. Examples: changes in dates, tasks, due dates, milestones, resources, dependencies, etc.

Recording techniques: reflections and annotations on the Gantt chart.

Applies systematically a coherent
set of strategies for assessing the
usefulness of the project plan.

Strategies to assess the usefulness of the project plan include:

• Create a checklist for yourself consisting of questions on whether you followed the plan, whether you placed the plan in a place where you can easily refer to it and how you used it to manage your project

• Reflections on whether the plan has helped you organise your time better to achieve the SAT outcomes and completing the SAT on time.

Explains clearly and coherently
the importance of relevant factors
that influence the effectiveness of
the project plan.

In your report, you need to be able to explain factors that affected the effectiveness of the project plan. These factors include:
Tasks, due dates, resources, tasks done concurrently, tasks that are dependent on other tasks, Resources, people.
Explain the advantages and disadvantages of using a Gantt chart.

Reports clearly and
comprehensively the usefulness
of the initial plan and its
adjustments in monitoring the
progress of the entire project.

Your annotations and report on the usefulness of the initial Gantt chart.

Hi all,

I was just wondering what teachers are doing for criteria 8 in terms of what work they are expecting from the students. Assessing a project plan is something I’ve never had to do.

Cheers,

Ben.
