[Year 12 SofDev] Quick thoughts on the SD exam over a cold beer

Same. My best student was very happy with it, middle kids thought it was ok. I found myself crossing out all 4 options on a couple of multiple choice questions, then going back and picking the least wrong answer...

Agreed, on first look there were a couple of iffy questions and my best kids ran out of time whilst those with "lower expectations" finished waaaaay too early, so overall not too bad. Bits of the MC and short answer could be up for discussion/clarification

I have to express my disappointment that History: Revolutions got to have giant robots in their exam and we didn’t … and it’s probably a sad sign of my misspent childhood that I could actually identify the giant robot in the exam question (as both the Marauder from BattleTech and the Glaug Officer Pod from Robotech). http://www.theage.com.au/national/education/history-transformed-in-vce-exam-20121114-29ce7.html for those who haven’t seen it.

Serious note, my kids were overall quite happy walking out … no “what was that about?” from any of them.

We had better not post details of questions until we get the all clear from Paula.

Section A - very sound. Thank dog good sense prevailed again regarding the OSI model question.

B1c - odd. Can't you just say it has the features of the 2 previous answers? I can't see what the question is getting at.

B4 + 5 - aha! They have finally asked students to write pseudocode! I knew that would come eventually. And it's worth beaucoup marks!

C3b - I was hoping an <<extends>> might get into the exam, but not this year.

The exam seemed light-on for pseudocode deskchecking. I was expecting something meatier. Still, can't have everything.

Overall - it's a tail-wagger.

(Note: I reserve the right to discover exam horrors later, when the beer's finished)
