Hi Gordon

Does it happen when you run the compiled .exe or only when you run from
inside Visual Studio using Ctrl + F5? If it is the former students will
needs write privileges on the destination drive otherwise it issue could
be that the ASP.net client doesn't have rights to the directory you are
trying to write to.

Hope that helps

Hi,

after many years of resisting, i finally moved my SD class from VB6 to
VB.NET - which seems to have taken the 'basic' out of VB!

I have just discovered an annoying issue that our network admin. says he
can't fix - yet i have memories of the same issue being resolved on this
list a few years ago??

When students try to write files (eg a simple textpad program) to the
network drive, there is an exception. However, if they do it locally (to
the desktop) the program runs fine.

Is there a .NET network permissions issue here that is easily solved?

thanks
                     Gordon
