<P><SPAN LANG="en-au"><U><FONT COLOR="#000000" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">During 2006</FONT></U><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">, I circulated a few e-mail on this lists related to "conceptual understandings of computing". As a following stage in my thinking through the ideas, I presented at the VITTA Conference in 2006 on this. After introducing the general thrust of what I meant by this (of which this site is a summary: </FONT></SPAN><A HREF="http://pdchandler.wikispaces.com/"><SPAN LANG="en-au"><U><FONT COLOR="#0000FF" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">http://pdchandler.wikispaces.com/</FONT></U></SPAN></A><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">), those of us who were there spent a few moments starting to investigate the "big ideas" which are present within an apparently simple topic such as "logging in"; we used a grid similar to </FONT></SPAN><A HREF="http://www.ied.edu.hk/apfslt/v4_issue2/mulhall/mulhall8.htm#appendixa"><SPAN LANG="en-au"><U><FONT COLOR="#0000FF" SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">http://www.ied.edu.hk/apfslt/v4_issue2/mulhall/mulhall8.htm#appendixa</FONT></U></SPAN></A><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> to help us.</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Between now and the VITTA conference, I would like to organise one or more "workshops" to flesh out some of the "big ideas" related to ICT topics, and present an update at the conference.</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">This e-mail is basically to garner some interest in a workshop.</FONT></SPAN>
</P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">This is the sort of thing that I am thinking of: 6 to 8 ICT teachers sitting down over a large piece of butcher's paper (or some IT equivalent :-) ) brainstorming and sharing ideas for maybe 2 hours or so. Certainly not me pontificating - very interactive. At the VITTA conference, we found that in the 20 minutes or so that we had for this activity, there were too many ideas and insufficient time, but it was certainly one of the best discussions that I have been part of.</FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN LANG="en-au"><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">So, if you are willing and interested in being part of a "workshop", could you please let me know? I have no preconceived ideas of location, day of the week etc at this stage, but would co-ordinate a time with interested folk. I'm hoping to get something together in the first half of term 3.</FONT></SPAN></P>
