[Offtopic] school ranking website?

This is basically the same information that is published in the press
the day after the VCE results come out at the end of the year.

If the neighbours are prospective parents I would be telling them this
is an extremely lazy way of judging a school and is not a substitute for
making an informed choice about a school by visiting it, going to an
Open day, taking a tour, making an appointment to talk to some teachers,
talking to students who go there, looking at the curriculum programs, or
any of the myriad of other ways of judging whether a school will meet
the educational needs of their child.

Subject: [Offtopic] school ranking website?

Hi all,

Neighbours recently asked for advice re the following website in terms
of
accuracy & relevance. Don't know how to answer them. Putting an
emotional
and 'social good/evil' response to one side, is there any list
consensus?

Does this webpage provide any 'useful' information?

 http://bettereducation.com.au/Results/VCE2008Results.aspx

"The following table ranks schools based on Median VCE score &
percentage
of Scores of 40 and over .."

Cheers,
Stephen
