edulists.<br>

It would be interesting if a number of us gave this list of skills to
our staff for comparison!<br>
<br>
Our moodle is new to the kids (finally have it happening!!) and I am
still learning also! So far (in the last few weeks):<br>
- students have created their own accounts (moodle is not attached
to LDAP - I have restricted email addys to bsc and edumail - the kids
have been good at using their proper names etc, otherwise I would
delete them!!))<br>
- shared files and weblinks<br>
- students have submitted work for me to grade online<br>
- created a Hot Potatoes quiz (isn't it nice to have moodle grade
stuff like this!!)<br>
- A forum (Q and A style where students cannot see others answers
until they have answered the question)<br>

The forum was interesting and I intend to have more of these with my Yr
10 ICT class on "ICT Issues"<br>
I have attached a screen dump of what I did. Next week I want to divide
the kids into groups representing the various stakeholders in this
issue (copyright and in particular, music and the Pirate Bay case). So
I will have groups representing musicians, record companies and
sellers, the Pirate Bay owners, Pirate Bay members and maybe people
that pay for their music (is it more expensive because of piracy??). I
intend to just use an open forum and let them go for it!<br>
They will then vote for the best posts etc (just gotta figure that bit
out yet!! - POLL???)<br>

Yr 10 ICT is 4 hours per week and it is a full year course.<br>

And it is true - KIDS LOVE MOODLE!!! They will surely love it even more
when I get them to fill in their personal information in Exabis
Portfolio (I can't use Mahara because of the restrictions on the server
- older version of PHP and MySQL beyond my control)<br>

Working on getting MRBS integrated (resource scheduling)<br>

So far I am the only one using moodle, and I have not used the
photocopier or printer yet this year for any of my classes!<br>

forums for class discussion or debate topics eg should it be legal to
download mp3 files?
blogs
eportfolios (using either Mahara or Exabis)
Meeting Room Booking System (to book rooms and or facilities, equipment
etc)

weekly or topic format for courses
parent sign on (using mentee)
integration with google apps
