[Moodle] starting up... again

I think I have died and gone to heaven :)
loving my new school, ICT access is an issue, but being dealt with...
and I just mentioned Moodle, turned around and the techs had played with getting it on a server for me...
As I am starting from scratch with techs who are listening to me :) are there any things in particular which would help them to make the most bomb proof setup?
they asked about windows/apache/linux, and well... those who know me know I know the words, but ummm... not much more.
Also, we are running with sina and mydesktop/myclasses, I noticed a few of you have that as a setup thing on your moodle spaces, how are you feeling they work together? a hint as to how to best incorporate them together...well... would be great.
