[Moodle] Moodle server thrashing

Thanks Brendan, I'd seen the MySQL optimisation stuff at Debuntu.org but
this link is far more specific and useful. I've just had 25 kids on with no
problems. I'm hoping it will cope with the 250 at exam times; my old
installation did.

I've had some nervous moments with my latest upgrade to Moodle running on an
up-to-date Ubuntu Hardy (8.04 LTS) server. The disk has been thrashing under
load and my students have been getting Database configuration error
messages. My apache2/access logs are reporting "ADODB error: too many
connections". I haven't seen this behavior before and don't know where to
start. Any ideas?
