Well it varies from machine to machine. 

You need to edit the config file and make the specs match your hardware
and connection load. Converting tables to use innoDB rather than MyISAM
often helps too.

As I understand it's a bit involved for a simple HowTo.

Peter is working with Open Query to develop a web based config file
generator - but it's still in development so is easier for him to edit
