[Moodle] Image on moodle front page

I have done mine similar to Keith's
I added it on the "Appearance" > "Frontpage" and in the frontpage description I added my image. - which is just a jpeg image.

I know it's not on the log in page... but this is the opening page... if that helps any :)

Take a look at this:

I just created a banner image, then with editing turned on, inserted it
into a single-cell of a table having uploaded it into the common area.
We are using version 1.7 of Moodle, but earlier ones 'should' still be
OK.
I did not have to play around with themes to achieve this.
