    I think while I agree with your general thrust Andrew, it is most
    definitely the case that no one sued you into oblivion when the Arab
    spring went wrong! Facebook et al leaves oh so many untested
    potential legal liabilities that I will not be opening access to it
    via our network for the foreseeable future. The philosophy
    underpinning knowledge and communication in schools has to be
    tempered with exigent reality, whether we might like it or not<br>

              (we can't block everything!) It seems like we are scared
              to let the kids open to the real world while we are under
              supervision, but they can access anything they like
              outside of school (or on their phone which is sitting next
              to them!!!! )(how many parents watch their kids on the
              net???.....) Don't get me started on the government
              censor.... &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A situation occurred today where a student
              had to get an email from a website that I sent them, and
              their email was blocked - so they downloaded the key on
              their phone and then entered it into the website....
              *shakes head* &nbsp;(and yes, they were told to use their
              school email account :)<br>

              In my experience, youtube gets abused when an extra is
              being taken, and the kids have free reign (or a teacher
              has a teaching method of sitting at the front of the class
              for 70 minutes...)<br>

              Getting back on topic - I'm not advocating that we enable
              Facebook or MySpace(so 2004!) (even though I think that
              they also could be useful) My argument is that YouTube is
              such a valuable resource, to deny teachers access to it is
              almost as bad as denying students access to technology in
              the first place. <br>

              teachertube for what it is worth is rubbish when comparing
              it to youtube.<br>

              synchronous 100mb pipe and no download limit.<br>
