There is quite a cottage industry for repairing files and documents. A student got himself a free lunch reconstructing a document for a staff member here once.<br><br>I have had some luck opening using OpenOffice to saving these to ODT format, then saving things back to MS Word DOC. Has to do with the robust format of this strict document standard that strips out the quirky rubbish that can accumulate inside word docs. It has something to do with doc errors being interpreted as reserved features and is part of the reason why the open document format is used in Canberra for document archiving. I bet there are other tricks that you can dig up with google.<br>

<p>On another software issue does anyone know how to get to the Repair function
in MS Word 2007?</p>
<p>I have a file which has tables that have been corrupted. Everytime I open the
file, a message appears telling me that I can repair the file. I follow the
instructions provided but can't find the repair function supposedly under the MS
menu in Word. I spent about an hour trying to figure this out to no avail.</p>
<p>If anyone could help it would be most appreciated.</p>

operated nowhere else in the school and caused lots of
