I attended a session of your Allan and liked it very much.<br>Don't know about the latest government idea about wizards do away with the need to learn more in depth IT skills, but it was very informative.<br><br>maybe other people would like to comment about new VET IT initiatives<br>

Just to add to this, we often make light of these lists and the VITTA<br>
conference. I work across a number of areas, IT is just one of them, and I<br>
can say with all honesty that every other teacher out there who is not an IT<br>
teacher but knows of these lists and the VITTA conference are very jealous.<br>

While we are thanking people, a huge thank you to Kevork and the list<br>
administrators for all of their effort yet again this year.<br>
<br>
While perhaps the venue was not the best we have seen, certainly the<br>
administration and organisation behind it by VITTA was first class.<br>

Sorry to lumber you with cross posts BUT ...<br>

I think we can agree the VITTA conference was fantastic with an amazing<br>
professional setup, excellent organisation, a diverse number of speakers,<br>
subjects and ideas to inspire, take back to our schools and use to improve<br>
our teaching.<br>
<br>
On behalf of everyone there my thanks to the VITTA committee, the EO Renee ,<br>
Adrian , Phil , Antonia , Denise, Roland , Ros, Lisa, Mia, and the list just<br>
goes on and on and I will apologise for not naming all the others but you<br>
know who you are.<br>
<br>
For the majority who attend. walk in, sample the offerings, and walk out,<br>
the effort that goes behind the scenes into this type of event may not be so<br>
obvious. How many for example, know that Phil was at the airport at 4 am or<br>
thereabouts to pick up the keynote Derek Robertson who came from Scotland<br>
especially for the conference ? and others gave up their weekends and time<br>
to help make Derek as comfortable as possible for the 2 weeks or so he was<br>
here. These folks are teachers just like the rest of us with marking,<br>
reports to write and families to look after.<br>
<br>
Consider also that Roland packed up and shipped a whole lab of PCs from his<br>
school ( that he had to then take back and reimage, reinstall ) to help<br>
deliver a few hands on sessions just to make it a little more meaningful for<br>
all attending. He could have demonstrated Scratch and Python on his laptop ,<br>
but he wanted to " make a difference " as he often describes in an almost<br>
throw away fashion his legendary work ethic.<br>

For all you workers behind the scenes and all the attention you paid to<br>
every little detail such as the reaction of a delegate at a particular<br>
moment to a simple detail like the agenda for one event or session, and how<br>
you may have taken things to heart, a sincere thank you for all your<br>
efforts.<br>
<br>

It makes me proud to say I work with and belong to such a dynamic,<br>
professional fraternity ( and sorority ) of wonderful teachers and fabulous<br>
human beings.<br>
