Lucas,
>From past experience I found that activity sheets such as those provided by ORB on excel and Access really helped to streamline the skills and practice for the students.
The theory and key knowledge could then be taught in context with these tools.
>From memory I did a 7 - 7 -7 - 5 model, but this was based on 9* 50 mins per 2 week cycle.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] Y12 Structure

Good morning,

I'm teaching Y12 IT apps for a full year for the first time in 2015.

I'm currently finalising my timeline for next year in preparation for orientation work.

I've seen a few sample timelines and I'm getting a handle on where I need to spend more time on an area of study.

We've got 23 weeks at our school (8-10-9) to get through the content before exam prep begins.

Currently the structure I've got is
U3A1 - 7
U3A2 - 9
U4A1 - 7
U4A2 - 4

I think that I'd like to spend more time on U4A2 and less on U3A2, but not sure how I can cover the content of databases in a shorter period of time. Also I'm not keen on teaching excel skills (functions etc) at the end of Term 2 and then placing an outcome at the start of Term 3.

Does anyone have details of their breakdown of weeks that they are happy to share?

Lucas
