>From my point of view, there really is little point blocking YouTube as students at our school sign up to proxy by pass services, which constantly change and provide access to YouTube. At Boort the question is more about proper understanding and skills surrounding appropriate use and misuse. We therefore have opened access to students in later year levels, built on a under teacher supervision/classroom instruction model.

Some schools are using the scaled down EDU version of YouTube which much success http://www.youtube.com/education

I don't know if it still works, but our kids got around Netspace filters just by putting a simple prefix in front of a blocked URL (which I won't post here in case the kids are listening in)

Youtube does have some jolly useful stuff for teaching. It's a shame it also has all the rest of the junk. Have you tried Teachertube instead?

Hi Everyone

Just a general question as to whether your school allows/unblocks YouTube for ITA usage (or any other class).

There's a bit of pressure here for me to open it up, when Netspace's default position is "no" with good reasons.

Any comments or ideas?
