[Year 12 IT Apps] General Q's and a Collection of Images for U3O1 (Benn Pollock)

Thank you for replying Mark,

Yeah when I said storyboard I meant sitemap, index.html layout and details which are consistent across the whole website. I've suggested that they use a storyboard template for these and regular layout diagrams for the rest. I'm predicting that there will be more than 3 pages developed for my SAC topic (Victoria Heights Secondary Alumnae Association), however I've said to my students they will only need to produce 3 layout diagrams max, not including the index.htm layout on the storyboard template.

I guess getting them to list their validation techniques in dot point form would be the best way to do this...

I've attached a folder of images to my last post - I intend to add a few more in. Do I also need to include screenshots of Blogs, Social networking sites etc if they choose to develop this type of website for the SAC? And if so - do they have to be relevant or can I just grab a screenshot of any blog, social networking or forum style website? At the moment I've only included screen grabs of forums which I've taken off other Alumnae websites.

Cheers!

Hi all. There's an interesting graphic at

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/images/features/2012/03-05CloudJobs_lg.jpg

which maps the projected employment due to cloud computing in the next few
years.

It may be helpful for ITA U4O2 and year 11 data visualisation.

Hi Benn

As for screen mockups, I encourage kids to use a standard template for
nearly all of the pages on their site (excepting maybe index.htm). Thus,
they only need to design one, maybe two screens for the whole site. (When
you say 'storyboard' did you mean it in the sense of a sitemap with extra
navigational details?)

There are no rules that I know of concerning how to represent data
validation techniques. You could use a pro forma, I guess, if it clearly
laid out the validation requirements. Otherwise they could use another
logical and informative format... like a dotpoint list, maybe.

With pix, give them a grab bag of appropriate and less appropriate ones so
they use some judgement in choosing them. Perhaps some irrelevant image;
some in BMP or other wrong formats. Some way too big, or with other faults
that may need some editing to make them suitable. I discourage kids from
straying from the supplied materials simply because of time: some will surf
for ages just to find a nice picture and waste their development time.

An alternative is to tell them the topic of required pix and let them
gather their own resources before the outcome begins. They can then bring
their resources in on a USB key.

My 6 cents' worth.
