[Year 12 IT Apps] Suggestion for a third VCE IT subject ...

One definition of "access" is: An outburst or onset: an access of rage.
Would seem appropriate in this case.

Having just spend ten minutes working on an increasingly incoherent analysis of the issue (that exam question is like Alice in Wonderland if you think about it too much), I had to stop when considering what "file access" actually means. Google doesn't find a reasonable definition.

Does 'file access' mean opening a file (and then maybe viewing/editing its contents) or can it also mean copying a file (without opening it)?

As for the antivirus event logger, I bet it would only log infection detection events, not all system file events. Can you imagine what would happen to system performance if every file opening were logged by Symantec?

An audit trail, however would log every system file event. It's the only answer that makes sense to me, but it wasn't one of the options.

This question is really bugging me, and I suspect it's destined to become a classic.

It that a hint of sarcasm coming across there.

Anyway Event Logging software does exist. The question was does anybody know of a virus checker with an Event Logger built in.

And please keep your responses polite.

This is wonderful!
This thread could be used by a hardware production company as a 'think tank' of new and creative products that have not yet be invented.

Who knew exams could be so useful!
:)

Has anyone realised its Christmas time... :-)

re MC q3

The techs at work laughed and said there is no answer.

They said that CCTV does not "detect" only records.

One of my students suggested that there is virus protection software that will keep a log of files that been unsucessfully accessed.

Does anybody know of such?

IT Swipe Cards

 - The focus of unit 3 will be on keyboard swipes

 - The focus of unit 4 will be on swiping techniques.

The problem will be packing all the key knowledge into a single year of study...
