[Year 12 IT Apps] sac2

Hi Andrew!

We've all been down the same road. First time teaching the subject. Not sure exactly what the study design means! Am I doing the right thing? What help can I get? Where can I get it?

That is where the ITApps list really helps. You can ask for help and usually get it.

I was teaching IT when the VCE started. We had CATs - and now SACs. Those of us teaching at that time had to develop our own CATs and SACs - especially in non-metropolitan schools, where I was teaching at that time, as we had no local support. The whole Edulists did not exist and there were no commercially available resources. I am now retired from full time teaching.

So what am I saying to you?

Don't agonise too much about this SAC. You have two examples already - so, unless you are not happy with either of them, go with one of those. Modify of course to suit your students and the software you and they are using.

The SAC has to allow students to demonstrate the required skills- see the VCAA Assessment Handbook for ITApps at http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/studies/infotech/InfoTechHB_2007.doc

Then really all you have to do is rank the students in order of their ability to satisfy the requirements for the SAC. The moderation of the internal assessments via the exam marks takes care of assessment differences between schools/teachers.

Good luck with SAC 2
