Thanks Bill, we both share some very strange and interesting talents that
would surprise those who know what we can do outside our classrooms. Would
make for an interesting dinner party. Keep up your studies :-D

Mobile technologies are looking really interesting. I met a chap at the
VITTA 2009 conference
http://www.*vitta*.org.au/*conference*info<http://www.vitta.org.au/conferenceinfo>who
ran an iPhone App workshop, does professional work and explained the
business model that underpins why it has been a great platform to make money
from. I was a bit taken aback and rather surprised when I asked him how I
could do it in the classroom when he then indicated to it was a better
option to just get a class set of very cheap android units. He said that I
should get students to program, author and share their code in the Google
open source code cloud as an introduction, even contributing or
collaborating with some of their community service projects, only later
stepping up to the Apple platform. I can pass you on some details if you
like, I think I made some notes in my blog.

A friend is running some similar handheld workshops at the
http://www.acec2010.info
<http://www.acec2010.info%20>conference. You can Google her details in the
online program and there are some good day rates to attend.

Regards Roland

Disclaimer: I am associated with VITTA as they are a good group and on the
technical committee of the ACEC2010 conference. I am excited, only 1 week
away :-D
