Ken

Thanks for the reply ...

To clarify, the problem is "about two versions of Moodle, one on the Mac and one on the school network" i.e. I work on the course on my notebook at home (a local Moodle install) and then try to restore to the school's network Moodle. I can restore materials from the school's Moodle to my local version but not vice versa.

Hi Graham

Can you clarify - when you said you "created a course on my Apple OSX
notebook" are you creating it on a local Moodle install running on your Mac,
or using your Mac to create it in your Moodle installation in your school?

That is - is the problem in copying and restoring from/to the school Moodle
when using a Mac, or is it about two versions of Moodle, one on the Mac and
one on the school network?

Oh yeah - Moodle has several places in which upload size is limited, but
generally that becomes evident when you try to upload the ZIP file, not when
actually restoring. We did have one case like yours, where a course manager
included copies of the course itself in its own Files area as backups - the
restore had to recursively unzip zips inside zips etc and ran out of RAM
