Hi Robert

Apologies if this question has been asked already. Is the presentation going to be available in any electronic format for remote schools.

Subject: [Year 12 IT Apps] National Broadband Network Presentation(apologies for cross posts)

Dear Teachers,

As you are all aware, there has been much media hype, debate and scrutiny about the proposed National Broadband Network (NBN). I would like to announce that a presentation at Swinburne and limited guest speaker opportunities for your school about the NBN is and its background is available.

Presentation details:

Date: Thursday July 23
Time: 5pm - 6pm
Location: Swinburne University of Technology, Hawthorn Campus,
Engineering (EN) Building Ground Floor, Room EN102

Swinburne's Head of Telecommunication and Network Engineering, Professor Grenville Armitage will take students through the history of communication from smoke signals to email to wireless communication and how the NBN will change the way we communicate again.

Professor Armitage will also discuss the career opportunities created by the NBN and how students can position themselves to be part of what the Government have stated will be "the single largest nation building infrastructure project in Australian history".

This presentation has been tailored for a Year 11 & 12 audience and will be relevant to students studying Year 11 IT, VCE ITA, Software Development, Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and Physics. Attached is an A4 information flyer about the information session. Please forward a copy of the flyer to the VCE Maths and Physics and IT teachers at your school not on the list.

If you know of any keen students in other year levels that would be interested, please ask them to register to attend the presentation at Swinburne. Further details on the presentation can be found in the attached flyer as well as information on how to register.

Regards,

Rob Mercer
