Apparently the settlement is being investigated by the Justice Department in America as well for antitrust breaches.

I recently received the following message from Monash University MPA. I encourage all authors to check the settlement website  <http://www.googlebooksettlement.com/> http://www.googlebooksettlement.com. Register your name and check if any of your publications are listed - even if they were only self published and distributed via libraries etc. I had one publication listed that was only distributed to two Melbourne Libraries!

Have you published a work prior to January 2009? — important info re the Google Book Settlement 


The Google Book Settlement is an out-of-court settlement that resulted from a class action filed by a consortium of copyright holder groups in America on behalf of American authors and publishers for copyright infringement by Google. Though the class action was decided in America it nevertheless affects and applies to all authors and publishers worldwide. 

All Monash authors are advised to go to the Settlement website, register as an author and search for their works on the Settlement book registry.
