Hi Kelly.  That all seems spot-on to me.  As I read it, that's the sort 
of stuff they need to represent visually : options, constraints, 
pros/cons, decisions, actions, evaluation of the decisions, effects of 
the actions.

Maybe get them to think of their mother hanging over their should as 
they work, constantly nagging with "Why did you do that?  Why didn't you 
do it THIS way?  How else could you solve that problem?  Did that work 
out as you expected?" etc.

I'm getting my kids to create a thinking log when they start the outcome 
and keep adding to it as they work.  Otherwise they forget every 
decision and action at the end  :-)
