[Year 12 IT Apps] OT - laptop replacement issue

the PCs may be ready but the SNR here has been advised that the macbooks will not be ready for perhaps 6 weeks

Regarding pushing back the date again, pls see a copy of the text below

Dear Notebook recipient,

 

  a.. The notebook currently in your possession as part of Rounds 1 & 2 Cycle 3 is due for return to the leasing company. 
 

  a.. To facilitate the changeover process, please ensure that you have backed up all your files. 
 

  a.. Due to the unforeseen delays for delivery of the replacement notebooks we have extended the return date.  If you did not purchase your notebook it must be returned to your School Notebook Representative no later than 30th July regardless of whether you are receiving a replacement notebook. 
 

The Department is contractually obliged to return all end-of-lease notebooks to the lessor, who will impose a fee for late- or non-return. Failure to return or purchase your notebook will incur a non return fee of $500. Returning your notebook after the deadline will incur a late return fee of $100

  Hi Andrew,

  in my role I have had extensive discussion with DEET regarding this and apparently all laptops will be here within 7 days of hand over if not before hand.. I  think they may push back some dates again as they have shifted these now twice...

  I assume everbody who is due to have their laptops rolled over got the same email as me with deecd threatenting to fine us if we dont hand over our laptops by wed

  problem is for macbook recipients like me is that the macbooks may not be ready for 6 weeks or more! 


  AAAAGGGGHHHH. How can i do my job without my laptop? I dont have another computer at home. There goes Preparatiopn! There goes Research! There goes communication!

  What are DEECDE thinking!?

  I rang the union and they are going to follow this up. I am pretty sure that our agreement was that the old laptops dont have to be handed over until the new ones are ready, and that we are obliged only to continue paying for the old ones in the meantime.
