Twin 51/2 inch floppy drives and a 5 inch screen, ah there was a beautiful (but somewhat heavy) machine.

Sorry to be pedantic but shouldn't that be 1991? We were all using Wang workstations, AppleWorks or Zardax on a IIE or maybe WordStar 2.26 on our Osborne 1 luggable in 1981.

The shortest useful document is one I wrote which, in its entirety is:

Don't.

Word's mail merge has not improved in 20 years.  Wordperfect 5 trounced it soundly in 1981, and Microsoft has made NO effort to improve its execrable merge technology since then.

It is a mad, sick, slavering dog with mailmerge rabies to be shot on first sight.

Run, screaming, at the first sight of Word mail merge. Use Filemaker and its merge codes instead.

but that's like getting a junkie onto using clean needles instead of kicking the powder.
