You must give due acknowledgement to the people whose work you have built 
on - else the dreaded plagiarism. Anyone who builds on other peoples' work 
without due acknowledgement is essentially an intellectual thief.

So Scott should have acknowledged his "other resources"

Hey! In this particular subject area we all do a lot of work and then share 
with the group. That is good. In fact it is better than good, it is great. 
But we must give credit where it is due. Otherwise the ideas will not get 
shared around.
