Vb 6 trusted network drives

By default, vb.net does not

Thus there is what yo have to change, 

Use control panels,  go to dot.net framework

Try wizards

the thing that I can't work out is why is it that VB 6 files run ok,
when VB.net ones don't?

This is a trust issue

You just need to get your system administrator to set it up so that the
network drive is trusted by vb

Then there is no problem at all.

One other thing though... if your sys admin has set up the network
drives so that they can NOT run exe files then s/he has to allow it for
the vb directory and sub folders of that directory.  After you have
finished the vb work then you can switch it off again.

Not running exe files certainly reduces the ability to play games!!

Hi Janet,

Bruce just beat me too it!  I was just about to say the same - our
students save on their USBs or a local drive we leave unprotected for
them (c:\temp) and it works fine.

Can I add another question while everyone has their "thinking caps" on?

We have been running VB version 6 quite successfully.  When we installed
Visual Studio Express which has a cut down version of VB net the program
worked fine, up to a point.  Initially when the kids log in they can
create a form and do some programing.  The problem starts when they save
their work - Visual Studio creates a sub folder on their home directory
called Visual Studio 2005\Projects which is OK.  However when they try
to open this they get an error message saying that the project location
is not trusted.  If they "click and ignore" they get a second error
message saying that "your application has been closed because you are
not permitted to run applications from that location".  If you close
this, it keeps popping up.   finally if you can get past this annoying
pop up and actually try and run the program it totally refuses to
cooperate with a final error message saying "Error while tryiing to run
the project:  unable to start debugging.  the process has been
terminted".

I have spoken to the technician about this problem but so far he has not
been able to get around it.   He says it may have something to do with
the Ranger software we are using.  Are there any other schools out there
who are running Ranger and can also run Visual studio successfully?  I
would love to hear comments and suggestions from anyone who can help.

Hi everyone

Apologies for the cross mail with IPM and IS

I am working through Adrian Janson's excellent VB .NET for Education
book. I am using his Image browser program which uses the dialog box to
open a bitmap into a picturebox. I want to reset the picture box so that
it is clear. Can anyone tell me the command to do this please? I have
not been able to work it out.
