I'm at a large regional secondary college. I've had a lot of success with Anson Cameron's short stories in Nice Shootin' Cowboy (although, sadly, it is currently out of print). Last year I also did Lord of the Flies, King Lear (Because we could see it in performance), Toy Symphony (also because it was touring; it was fantastic), Far From Heaven (film text) and some Emily Dickinson poetry. I think I also used some short stories from Book of the Beach.
Cheers,
Alison

Just went to a New texts for Year 12 English PD and was told Atwood's Cat's Eye, Carver's Will You Be Quiet Please and Things We Didn't See Coming, Steven Amsterdam (I think) would all work well for Year 11 Lit as well.

Cheers

We are finding 'I'm not Scared' a terrific choice at yr 11.

We still love Macbeth, always works with Yr 11s with lots of supplementary activities.

We also look at Paul Kelly's lyrics and again Yr 11s respond to the familiarity of these.
Good luck, Kathryn
