[English] Are we simply too busy to be using this list for

Hi Jenny, Anna et al.

I have often thought we might be missing something worthwhile with this
edulist. Twitter is alive with good networking and resource sharing and
it seems a shame that those not using Twitter are missing so much good
stuff there. Maybe mailing lists are a bit too old school these days,
but some people do still use them and I think they have some benefits
over Twitter (such as the ability to archive stuff we want to keep,
although there are workarounds for Twitter).

The IT Applications Edulist is alive and well. There is a core of users
that really keep it updated with useful content and discussion - I would
love the see the English list be like this.

The trouble is time, of course, but aside from that I think it might
also be due to the fact that most of us probably teach in relatively
large teams, so we do all of our troubleshooting and 'brains-trust'-ing
with them. By contrast, VCE IT seems to be taught by lone IT teachers,
sometimes with little formal IT education which means the list becomes a
lifeline!

I think we could consider it a way to network for the sake of meeting
others, sharing our woes and stories of hope, and generally see it as a
recreational/recuperative tool rather than another duty on our
unmanageable to-do lists.

For my part, I'll try to be a little more mindful of the list whenever I
see something that 'I just have to post to Twitter'.

Regards,

Jackson Bates,
