[English] National curriculum feedback

Hi Scott,

Actually VATE had a Salon on the Australian curriculum on Wednesday evening and it was really well attended. I was a bit disappointed that as one who holds an AATE position you did not attend, but I realise that we all live very busy lives and cannot go to everything.

>From this meeting VATE is preparing a response. The discussion was broad-ranging and interesting as well as really insightful. I won't go through it all here, but in general the discussion was positive about the general idea and broad brush strokes. The attitude was that people were working to improve and develop the model.

I am not surprised that there has not been more feedback because the website is terrible and schools simply do not prioritise faculty time where the critical discussions are likely to start.

Bye for now,
Greta

Subject: [English] National curriculum feedback

Colleagues,

I'm surprised there hasn't been more discussion of the national
curriculum English draft. The feedback deadine is 23 May.

Is this because everyone is happy with it and we're all falling in
line, or perhaps are so concerned that words fail us?

I know that various forums have and are being held (by VATE and ALEA
etc). Has anyone been along to these? What has been the tenor of
conversation?

I plan on submitting my own response, as I'm sure most of us will, but
I'm interested to hear your views and collective wisdom.

Cheers

Scott
