Dear Max,
We used a visual as I think the exam will require students to analyse
visual language in terms of how it persuades.
Our students get the day off before a VCE mid-year.

Subject: [English] Issues Thanks and off-topic request

Hi Folks,

thanks for all of the suggestions regarding possible issues topics.

After a week or two of collecting articles and putting a choice of
issues to the class, they opted today to go for the Olympics Boycott /
Torch Relay topic.

A quick question, do people plan to use any visual material (aka
cartoons or photographs) as either source material or as analysis pieces
for their SAC? There have been some excellent cartoons and also some
very compelling photos from the Torch relay.

An off topic request. As VCE coordinator i have been approached to allow
students sitting for mid-year exams (Sciences including Psychology and
Accounting) to have at least one day of 'Swot Vac' in the week of exams
leading up to the GAT. What I am interested to know, if you are able to
find out, is what the current practice is at your school.

I'll be grateful for any feedback you can provide.
