[English] Identity and Belonging Ning

Dear all

In relation to Identity and Belonging, we put together a text about
Australian Identity which was sent to all schools (one copy to the
English Co-ordinator) at the beginning of February.  Its an anthology -
might give people some extra pieces of writing for students to use as
extra stimulation or different types of text responses.  There is a very
comprehensive set of teaching activities that complement the text but
also look at Australian identity beyond this particular book.  They can

Essential Questions

Is nature more important than nurture?
Can the environment alter who we are?
Is family group more important than peer group in determining our
identity?
Can our identity change over time?
Is identity formed as a rebellion to influences and can this be a true
identity?
How strong an influence is gender on our identity?
Can our identity change with old age or do we then reveal who we really
are?
What do we need to belong?
