Because of the advancement in machinery, a great deal of the book is now out of date, but there are still some sections that can be used by woodwork teachers. It has some great question and answer sections at the end of each chapter. It would be absolutely fantastic to have a completely updated version of the book but that would involve almost a new book being written. Technology has come a long way since that book was written but the general framework or structure of the book has value. Chapters like the growth of trees is still relevant. I for one will listen to the program.</div>

Some information about the documentary<br>

The documentary is about the life, legacy and textbook of John A Walton who<br>
wrote the woodwork textbook 'Woodwork in Theory and Practice' that was<br>
widely used and highly regarded, not only as a text book, but as an<br>
authoritative reference book.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Kate Walton didn't know her grandfather, but in the documentary she explores<br>
the lasting impacts of his work.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
With her parents Kate traveled 2766 kilometres for three weeks, across three<br>
states and interviewed well over 25 people for this project. The end result<br>
is a 20 minute radio documentary. She states that "It has been a hard and at<br>
times a heartbreaking process to decide what to include".<br>

<br>
You may be interested and take the time to listen to this documentary as it<br>
is good to see some Industrial Arts History being publicly acknowledged in<br>
