The Australian Academy of Design today announced the approval of its new Fashion Design degree course.<BR>
</FONT><FONT FACE="Times New Roman"><BR>
</FONT><FONT FACE="Arial">The Bachelor of Design Arts (Fashion Design) will commence in 2009 as a three-year degree course. The Academy course will provide the same total hours of study as other four-year degree courses. <BR>
<BR>
Students will be able to choose to combine studies in Fashion Design with Advertising, Graphic Design, Photo Media or Visual Arts as sub-majors. These unique combinations of study areas vastly broaden employment opportunities for Academy fashion graduates.<BR>
<BR>
Application for the fashion design degree course can be made through VTAC (course code 91532). Applicants should also contact the Academy for an application form for direct entry into the course.<BR>
<BR>
Students currently studying the Diploma of Fashion Design course at the Academy were ecstatic to learn that they will be able to transfer to the degree course for 2009. The Academy will offer a bridging course during the summer semester to enable students who have completed one year of study at Diploma level to earn the credits required for enrolment into the degree at second year level.<BR>
<BR>
Academy Director Dr Robert Treseder said today “The new Fashion Degree provides an exciting alternative to university degrees and the high-priced degrees offered in private institutions.” The Academy is a not-for-profit institution and government FEE-HELP assistance is available to its degree students.<BR>
