Hi Ingrid

Not sure what the concerns are. I am assuming you are not on C21
Finance. When you are, there are no vouchers. There is a
certification to be signed by the Principal. Cases Finances just
requires that you have two signatures sign the vouchers plus
yourself. Can't understand what the concern is because the risk is
the same with both systems!! Direct debit is magic. I have
been doing it for 6 years and you would want to go back to cheques, I
know I certainly wouldn't. No hassle and bother at all and as far
as time management goes, there is so much less work. I would
suggest to your Councillor that he/she is behind the times - big
time. You could always instigate an internal control process that
one of the Councillors signs the two payrolls at each meeting. Go
for it - you certainly won't regret it. You could mention that
DE&T only pays by direct credit to its employees

all of you who are currently using direct deposit for local payroll

comply with internal controls. I am keen to get on this system but

occasions I have had only one signatory present on pay day, and also the
problem of lost/mislaid cheques, not to mention the queue waiting for
their cheque so they can get to the bank, so I would really like to use
direct deposit instead.
