You are invited to this free community seminar, the second in a series of<br>
three seminars being delivered by the Port Phillip and Westernport<br>
Catchment Management Authority (PPWCMA) across the region to highlight the<br>
current state of natural resources in our catchments.<br>
<br>
This seminar is a unique opportunity to get an up-to-date picture of the<br>
state of Western Port and major issues confronting the bay and its<br>
catchment. The speakers will outline some of the latest information and<br>
research. The seminar schedule (attached) includes opportunities for<br>
one-to-one discussions and networking after the presentations.<br>
<br>
Who should attend? All those with an interest in the health of the Western<br>
Port region are invited to attend this seminar. This includes: local<br>
community members, landholders, local government officers and councillors,<br>
community groups, businesses, politicians, scientists, researchers,<br>
students, government agencies, and non-government organisations.<br>
<br>
Presentations: Will be from leading experts including the fields of water,<br>
the bay and coasts, biodiversity, land use, and social demographics, who<br>
will provide a snapshot of the current situation in their particular areas<br>
of expertise. Investigative interviewing after each presentation, by Hilary<br>
Harper (774 ABC Radio), will draw out the salient issues. A plenary<br>
"panel" session will provide an opportunity for questions to the<br>
presenters.<br>

This seminar is an opportunity for you to:<br>
§ hear new information and research on catchment issues from experts;<br>
§ improve your understanding of some of the major issues confronting<br>
Western Port catchment;<br>
§ see how your work contributes to catchment management and sits within<br>
the 'bigger' picture;<br>
§ come together to explore the overall state of the catchments' natural<br>
assets;<br>
§ engage in one-to-one discussions after the presentations; and<br>
§ develop new networks and partnerships.<br>
